toolkit autostart — Configure System Startup Behavior

The toolkit autostart command group registers, removes, and inspects the OS-level startup entry for the Toolkit daemon. When autostart is enabled, the daemon launches automatically at login — no terminal session required — so your local proxy and web dashboard are ready the moment you start your machine. You can choose from three startup modes to control how the daemon behaves and whether it gives you visual feedback when it comes up.

toolkit autostart status

Displays whether autostart is currently enabled, the active startup mode, the detected platform, and the target dashboard URL. Syntax

toolkit autostart status [options]

toolkit autostart enable

Registers the Toolkit daemon with your operating system’s startup mechanism so it launches automatically at every login. Syntax

toolkit autostart enable [options]

toolkit autostart disable

Removes the Toolkit startup entry from your operating system, stopping the daemon from launching at login. Syntax

Startup mode descriptions

The --mode flag controls what happens immediately after the daemon finishes starting up at login.

Mode	Behavior
`daemon_notify`	Starts the daemon and shows a native desktop notification when the proxy and dashboard are ready.
`daemon_silent`	Starts the daemon silently with no UI feedback — the proxy is available but nothing is displayed.
`browser_launch`	Starts the daemon and automatically opens the web dashboard in your default browser.

Platform support

Toolkit writes the startup entry to the appropriate location for each operating system.

On some systems, writing the startup entry may require elevated permissions. If registration fails, re-run the command with administrator or root privileges.
